It is hard not to have some pity for Sen. Craig of Idaho, having to seek sex in an airport toilet. Ordinarily, his sexual activities and preferences (which apparently involve a "wide stance")should be of interest only to him and his wife.
That having been said, Craig is one of those hypocritical right-wingers who appeal to the worst instincts of homophobic Americans and who, I suspect, voted to impeach Bill Clinton over his hanky-panky.

"hoist by or with one's own petard" - hurt, ruined, or destroyed by the very device or plot one had intended for another.

The best part of the press conference was that Craig began by thanking the press for "coming out" to cover it. Honest, I'm not making that up.

One interesting angle on all this, some GOP leaders are calling on Craig to resign yet none has ever called on David Vitter (R) of Louisiana to do the same. Earlier this year Vitter admitted to having visited prostitues as well. Of course, they were female prostitutes. The fine line of morality continues to blur for our friends on the right.
