Why do we need unions?

Ever wonder why we need unions? Here's a picture from China showing how worker safety operates around the world.

That may be the reason that we need OSHA, but doesn't really say much about a need for unions.

Are you trying to imply that OSHA would not exist if we did not have unions?

The need for unions can be intelligently debated, but the need to establish/follow proper safety regulations is not debatable.

Unions are a result of corporations. Corporations are established as a way of avoiding individual responsibility.

If corporations are simply a formality of what can be achieved via contractual agreements, then labor unions should be able to be explained in the same way, but I can’t see how this can be done. Unions exist by relying on the state to force businesses to negotiate with them rather than having something marketable to offer, that businesses would willingly agree to buy. Without government coercion, no businesses would sign contracts with labor unions. They would simply make employment offers to individuals on a case by case basis - the same as how 92.2% of private sector workers are hired today in the US.

I would imply that Whistleblower. I would imply the same about concepts like "the weekend" and other benefits that bosses and investors ignored before the rise of the Union movement
